Lucinda shares her experience of having multiple-teeth implant treatment at The Implant Centre, her severe dental anxiety and how having implants has restored her confidence and improved her life.

I have a bit of a passion for black Labradors, which I have done for many years. I have two at the moment, mother and daughter, Ebony and Molly. The dogs come to the office every day with me, and they sit and wait at the front door waiting to go, and they're very upset if they don't get invited to jump in the car. They have their beds in the office and they lie beside my desk.
I run an estate agency business called Comyn and James. We’re based in Pulborough and I work along with my husband and his partner, Simon. I deal with the public all the time, so my teeth must look good. I was suffering from quite a lot of pain in my teeth, two small partial dentures in the lower jaw and then the top left-hand jaw I had, I think it was three on a removable plate.
Obviously, it was quite a lot of hassle keeping it clean, and I was very conscious of it. And eating became a bit of a problem. And my tongue became quite sore and I couldn't taste what I was eating half the time. So I went to my usual dentist, locally, and he said, “Lucinda, I think we've got a problem here. I don't think we can do any more crowns”, however, he suggested implants.
He thought they would suit me very well. I've had bad experiences as a young child. I would have a lot of fillings in the chair. A lovely dentist and family friend, but he didn't believe in injections. So as a child of about 6 or 7, I maybe had to have six fillings at a time with no injection.
I was very nervous. My mother had to push me in through the door, and I did tell them at The Implant Center, ‘I'm probably going to be your most nervous patient’. But they were so good. They handled it so well.
Lucinda’s husband: “Before we started Lucinda was extremely nervous about the whole enterprise, mainly because it affected her face and how she would look. She had suffered with her teeth for a long time. So it took an immense amount of courage to even go to the clinic to have her teeth done.”
I have to say, I never forget when I came out of The Implant Center at Hove, having had the implants put in and all finished, I just couldn't… I put my tongue around my mouth. I just couldn't believe the sensation that I didn't have to worry at night, and taking teeth and cleaning them, putting them in a little pot in the bathroom, it just didn't need to happen. So I was terribly excited. And I also found that the food tastes better. It's just a joy, I can't recommend it more highly.
