Christina had teeth she cannot easily chew with and is embarrassed with to smile on the top left side. She cannot imagine having dentures and wants to be able to smile without her hand coming up to cover the teeth once again.

After – with the photographic holder in place to show how perfect an implant bridge of three teeth on two implants should look.  She cannot distinguish it from her other teeth and finds it easy to keep clean as you can see with the sparkling gums.

Christina's Treatment 

The teeth were removed, the implants placed and a temporary bridge was placed so she did not have to wear a denture during this integration phase. The temporary bridge showing the posts that go into the implants, this bridge is removable only by the implant surgeon to assess healing and to allow for easy checking of the implants.

A mould is taken of the implants after about 8 weeks of healing of the implants.  She was entirely pain free during the healing period and the moulds are a standard and very simple form of dentistry.

The metal core of the bridge is tried in place for precise fit and precision matching of the way the teeth meet together.  We often ask our patients to visit the laboratory at this stage to match the final porcelain covering ideally to the adjacent teeth.  This is a fascinating insight into how specialist implant laboratories work and why so many different factors come together to produce the final crafted bridge.
